Avifaunal diversity of Tsirang District with a new country record for Bhutan

Birds play a vital role in ecosystems. Studying avifaunal diversity therefore has noteworthy indicating nature’s ecological balance the environment. A total of 749 bird species have so far been recorded Bhutan. We present comprehensive checklist birds Tsirang, District which largely lies outside Bhutan’s protected area system. The data was collected through opportunistic encounters and with regular field visits to range locations different seasons. One-fourth country’s avifauna new for Bhutan, Plum-headed Parakeet Psittacula cyanocephala as part this study. In all, 285 avian belonging 18 orders 65 families including one globally ‘Critically Endangered’, three ‘Vulnerable’, ‘Near Threatened’ were during survey. high richness study reveals that it includes good habitats Similar studies are suggested other areas contiguous Bhutan current area.
